Daily Reports Home Each day an individual student carries a small card on which that student's civility and academic performance is recorded for parents. Thus, all students inform their parents each day regarding their school performance. Every Monday, the student's grade for each class is also recorded adding to the parents' daily reports a weekly update on academic accomplishments. Home based incentives: Parents use these reports to deliver daily rewards contingent on their teenager's performance: punctual class arrival, following the teacher's instruction, and refraining from disrupting other students. Use of the family car, spending money, access to other goods and services under the parent's control are all powerful reinforcers for academic and civil behavior. School based incentives: The daily report also helps our staff determine the delivery of the incentives that we provide individuals as well as the student body for their good performance. Most incentives which we provide are in the form of leisure time activity based on performance. For example, once a student completes the daily lesson, at 80% correct or above, that student may leave the classroom for the Student Lounge. If a student completes all class periods meeting the performance criterion, that student may go home and not attend the 7 th hour study period. There are long term incentives that allow honor-roll students to buy-off finals exams. A student can earn up to 1900 points a semester and for 300 points they can buy a final test. Thus, an honor roll student can by-off all finals if that student achieves 99% of the performance criterion. All students benefit from school-wide daily success. In the group incentive, we collapse and shorten Fridays for everyone if they achieve a 97% group average in going to class, on time, completing a lesson, and not disrupting others. Last year our students averaged 97.35 % for the school year in maintaining their classroom performance.
