Liberal Arts College Preparatory Curriculum

Our Liberal Arts college preparatory curriculum follows the requirements of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools' credit acquisition guidelines and combines with an advanced placement curriculum that exceeds that of Kansas and Missouri Schools.

Most of our teachers have dual degrees or they have certification across content areas which allow us considerable flexibility when writing the curriculum each school year.

Also, all teachers are trained research assistants and they all attend weekly in-service training in the pedagogy of the exceptional child.

Individualized Curriculum

Each semester, our staff determines our course offerings based on the needs of the teenagers who are enrolled.   To do so, we complete an inventory of the credits earned by each student and those courses remaining that are necessary for graduation. Thus, the courses which comprise the curriculum will change from semester to semester because they reflect the unique needs of each student as well as the aggregate needs of the group.

Once each student's credit inventory is completed, we determine which classes we will hold for that semester and then place each student according to: What classes the student needs to graduate; the measured achievement level of the student; the chronological age of the student, and; the preference stated by the student.

We conduct ongoing curriculum modifications throughout the school year.   If we find that students have academic deficits, we tutor them individually or in subdivided classes.   Our students welcome the opportunity to learn those skills that they missed in the sequential learning of language arts and math.

Similarly, those students who are academically advanced are accelerated in their class work.   Daily tutoring at the end of each class session provides our students with the academic preparation that they need to meet our increasingly demanding curriculum.

It is our goal to prepare our students for the rigorous academic and social demands of university life.
