Students & Families
Our student body is diverse; our teenagers represent a wide demographic. Most of our students come from the public schools. Half of these students are from Missouri; the remainder comes from Kansas schools as well as other private and parochial schools. We also have students who are referred by several local school districts because these teens need a small and nurturing setting.
On average, we serve 150 people a year which includes our student enrollment and their families. All of our parents and their teens seek an academic and social environment that is nurturing and academically rigorous. All of our families want a specialized curriculum, small class size, university level instruction, and daily communication with our staff.
Roughly two thirds of our teenagers are within gifted academic levels although many of them did not meet their academic potential prior to their enrollments here. We also specialize in the treatment of learning disabilities and deficits. Our educational model works equally well for teenagers who have specialized needs whether they are advanced or need remediation in academic disciplines.
Our teenagers enjoy and contribute to the well-being of the school through their daily community service: they clean the school at the end of each day. We are synonymous with a large family; we even have parents who enjoy providing a home cooked lunch for the school during the school year. Each year, our students make visits to the Veterans Hospital and our local nursing homes to sing and deliver greeting cards on holidays.
